Order Process

Yes. Please schedule a time to come pick your beef at our ranch. There will be a selection to choose from based on age, weight, and maturity.

Yes, this is all done on the cut sheet prior to slaughter date. We will assist you with the process. You can choose what cuts you would like to keep for steaks and what you would like made into ground meat. You can also choose the thickness of steaks. The quantity is based on the thickness of steaks that you choose. Thicker steaks will yield fewer steaks. Thin cut steaks will yield more steaks. Tenderizing and pre-made beef patties are a few other options.

Yes, this is preferred.

You will pay a $500 deposit to reserve your animal (half-calf or whole calf), then pay the remaining balance prior to us picking up your product from meat processor. The sample boxes will be paid in full at the time of purchase.

Unfortunately, your deposit is non-refundable if you decide not to complete the order.

Yes, the beef is sold based on the carcass hanging weight. This term is used to describe the field dressed weight of an animal prior to cutting, hanging, and packaging the meat.

Other Common Questions

We do not use growth hormones on our cattle. Antibiotics are used only as needed to treat illness, which is minimal due to our cattle never leaving our ranch. Our cattle are born, raised, weaned, and finished on one of our four properties. We vaccinate and worm our calves when they are babies and at weaning to prevent deadly diseases. Any animal that requires routine treatment with antibiotics for sickness will not be sold as a slaughter calf.

About 100-120 lbs / 150-200 lbs / 350-400 lbs of packaged weight meat from quarter/half/whole calf respectively.

16-21 cubic ft freezer for a whole and 9-12 cubic ft freezer for a half.

Sedley's administers antibiotics as needed, which is actually very rare. Feed lots mix antibiotics into feed rations daily, potentially leading to antibiotics ending up in the meat you consume. But, Sedley's only administers antibiotics during illness. So, if a calf falls ill at 6 months old, any medicine administered will no longer be present in the calf at slaughter, even 18 months later. Again, this is quite rare, as our herd stays on our ranch land from birth to slaughter.
